Fuel Leak

I have a fuel leak in my V8.
Each time I stop the car and get out. I get back after a short period of time and the car inerds smell of petrol (quite strong). This applies to the boot as well. Looking underneath, reveals no obvious leaks - (petrol does evaporate quickly).

Are there any obvious things I should look for.
I have replaced the FPR, helped a lot, but it still runs rich and smells of petrol afterwards.

Regards

Re: Fuel Leak

There is a panel in the trunk that allows access to the fuel pump this will allow you to look at the top of the tank (part of it anyway). Pull the carpet back on the raised portion of the trunk (up against the back seat) and you will see a small panel with three screws.

Re: Fuel Leak could be rusty fuel line

with the car running, look under the passenger side. there are too steel pipes. one is the high pressure side of the gas line. the other is the return. these will typically rust and cause a leak. at first the leak will be very small and only seep out with the high pressure. after a while it will get worse.

cut out the section of rusted pipe back to where the steel is clean. you can use a section of steel brake line for a replacement and connect with rubber hose. (Cut off ends of the brake line that have flares and compression fittings) use only high pressure rubber/neoprene hose and double clamp them on both ends of each joins of the old steel line to new.
