Check the vac. lines, switches/contacts...
Then the diaphragm and pump, then the control unit under/in the dash.

No on my 5k, yes on my 90.

Re: how many of your cars cruise control works?
It's a super simple system as long as your electrical line's to the pump are good. Usually it's just vacume lines. I've repaired mine a few times. Gotta have the cruise for the highway!!

Also the switch on the stalk.

The Bentley shop manual contains excellent troubleshooting tree
It's tedious to follow, and requires a multimeter, but it's thorough and will find the faulty component, if you follow it step by step. Using this procedure, I've found bad stalk switch contacts, bad control module, and bad vacuum pump. Unlike many people, I've never found a bad pedal switch.
I love cruise control on Interstates. |
I just found my cruise doesn't work!
I doubt its the stalk, I just had that replaced thanks to the low beams not working...
I'm pretty sure I know what it is, most likely a vacuum line from when I replaced the heater core. I'm pretty sure I did something then... |
Re: The Bentley shop manual contains excellent troubleshooting tree
Yeah...Mine have been switch or pump problems (either the actual pump, or a line connecting to the pump).
|
mine works fine on the 5ktq
|
dead also
when I press the stalk switch all I hear is a squealing noise. I don't see any vacuum leaks at the pedal switches either.
