I vouch for Bars. That stuff is simply amazing.

@QuattroTurboDiesel & Jonas McFeely: Just to make sure, you have used it in your audi, right? I've heard it also works great on Hondas and I also found this post about Mercedes.

So Bar's Leaks it is then! Can you mix it with the Power Steering fluid or do you have to use it instead of the power steering fluid???

I've used it with my Audi's. In the 5000's I mixed it with pentosen, and later in the V8's I mixed it with Ford Hydraulic fluid (from NAPPA) and synthetic ATF. I always use Bars when I replace a steering rack (I always have replaced with a used rack that I put a new rubber boot on) Even if I can get 5 more years withot having to buy a re-built rack, I figure I'm money ahead.

Ok. Thanks a lot! I've just put the Lucas stop leak in my A4 Quattro 96. Let's see how it works out to be. I hope it works as good as Bar's Leak!

Hi,

My power steering pump had some leakage right now. I don't want to spend $700 on it to replace it. I am wondering whether the Lucas stop leak work or not. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

It really depends on the leak, this board has number of people that choose to use stop leaks stuff and other fluids. And this is possible if its only a small leak per month ...

But for me, FIND the leak and fix it !

Then use the recommended fluid !!

If its a 5000, 100, 200 then the whole steering rack replacement is only 5-8 hours home work. No idea about the V8.

So very much on your ability or garage space !

I doubt if any stopleak will fix seepage in a PS pump. If the main seal is out, find a rebuilt on Ebay. They are not hard to change.

I need to add 50 ml fluid every three days or after driving 50 miles. So I don't think it's a small leak. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Cheng
