Default New alternator and things don't seem right

Installed a new 110 amp alternator in my 200tq today and things seem to be off. The battery was dead so i pulled the battery out of my other car to start it. She started right off...i unhooked the good battery while it was running. It continued to run with no battery hooked up showing good power output on the gauge. For some reason the guage showed a drop in power output after a few minutes then after another 10 minutes it shut off all together and i have a dead battery again. The battery that it has is fairly new. Any advice?

You probably fried the regulator in the alternator by running it without the battery connected. Unless it's one of those "guaranteed for life" junk "rebuilt" alternators from a FLAPS.

I would do a few checks. Never assume anything when figuaring out what the problem is . so that being said.
>check to voltage of battery with car off ( oh I guess you will need to charge the battery up first )
>get a load test done on battery
>check voltage at battery when car is running
>check wiring of alternator ... is blue wire in the correct area
>check voltage at alternator
possible conclusion
>if no Voltage at alternator , you have blown the voltage reg, I'm not sure on a 110 alternator if the VR is on the out side, but I'm sure it is. the cost of a new VR is between $20-30 CND / superdave
