New owner - 89 Audi 100 quattro

hello enthusiasts. I have just bought myself a 1989 Audi 100 Quattro. It needs some TLC, but runs and drives good. There are a few outstanding issues that are stopping this car from being driven regularly.

Heater blower motor doesn't work. I have determined that the motor does in fact work when jumped with battery power.

connection plugs under plastic rain shield on passenger side show a strong 12 volts when tested with voltmeter.

HVAC control head doesn't turn on blower (in any of the settings)

while the control head is "on" in any setting, the radiator cooling fan turns on and only shuts off if the head unit is turned off. electrical bug?

I have followed all the diagnostic procedures from SJM and it has lead me to believe that the "blower control unit" is the problem. Where is that? and what does it look like? Is the heater controls supposed to turn on the cooling fan? thank you for reading and I hope someone can shed some light on this problem

Another thing to look for is a circular red plug behind the dash. This tends to overheat and get burned up, causing the climate control to go blank and the blower to stop working. I just cut mine out and soldered new wiring in a few months ago. Everything works great now.

behind the passenger dashboard? and I still don't know where the blower control unit is. Is it the thing under the rain shield with the two plugs?

It's a red, round-ish plug behind the radio/climate control head. I think it has 4 wires going into/coming out of it.

okay, thanks. I will surely check it out

Blower resistor

So ive been hunting around for this part to solve my heater issue, but I cannot seem to find it listed for any Audi models on ebay. I found the exact part using the printed number. Here is what I have found:

- AC DELCO 16061602

This same part number is for my 89 Audi 100 Quattro, but everywhere else specifies it as a Cadillac part. It looks identical to mine, but some have subtle differences. The plugs are the same, but will it function the same?

Audi used GM HVAC systems.

fixed the heater!

okay everyone, so i have ordered the AC delco blower control unit and i have installed it. The blower now runs properly.

I now have a problem with the ebrake.

i have somehow managed to pull the ebrake release button and the metal rod that goes to the linkage completely out. I cannot for the life of me figure how to put it back together. Is there a diagram for the ebrake somewhere?
