Default test drive 2009 BMW 750i

So my wife brought home a 750i this past weekend. She works at BMW and won a raffle to use the car for the weekend.

Now I have driven many Bimmers in the 6 or 7 years that she's worked there but none of the cars have made my 200q20v feel rattly and slow until the 750.

Granted, we're talking $80,000 vs my car's current value of let's say $3,000 and most 200 drivers won't be in the market for one of these but the drive is really something else. 4.4 litre turbo making 400hp doesn't sound like all that much but you could really feel the power at a touch of the go pedal. Your whole body sorta just sinks into the firm yet plush seats and you don't run out of power. I didn't take her over 80, but I've heard some folks go 140 without the passengers being the wiser. CRAZY! Do old rich people really need to drive that fast?

we averaged 15mpg on mixed mode driving. There are so many electronic doodads, that I would be scared of what might break after 3 or 4 years of ownership.

Night vision? it's disorienting to look at the same video screen that's disabled for movies when the car is not in park (huh?)

Handles surprisingly well for the size especially with the suspension electronically set to sport or sport+

the doors close themselves when you don't quite close it completely, and the seatbelts snug themselves up. DANG!

sounds like a nice ride. But I still want a new a8. Audi A8 and Mercedes s-class beat the 7-series in a head on test.

I highly doubt the 4.4 is a turbo...unless it's a diesel. 400hp out of a 4.4 v8 really doesn't require turbo for anything. my boss has 535 sport... twin turbo 6. nice ride..no lag. nowhere near as fun as my 07 A6 was... except for the sweet engine. Here in Ontario only the Italians drive Beemers.
