Default V8 Fuel mileage

Hi Guys,

My mileage has dropped off dramatically in the last two weeks. I've gone from 20mpg to about 16mpg. Now, it has been extremely cold here, would that have that much effect? The engine is running smooth as silk. Where should I start?

Thanks in advance.

Agreed pull the codes, but also consider that you stated that it has been very 'cold' which will require the engine a longer period to reach operating temperature. The engine is probably running rich (to compensate for the cold) until it reach the correct operating temperature.

Default if its cold like 10 degrees or less, is it accecptable to see

dark smoke at startup once in a while, but never after that. would it be extra fuel used to start car, then burnt off?
thanks
