Small update:

Decided to go with the new style LS1 coils. I didnt like how the audi coils needed to have most of the plastic removed to get them to fit. Also, the LS1 coils are well documented in the mega manual for megasquirt......

Also got the main charge piping figured out and attached to the intake manifold (its never coming off....)

Heads are bolted down. I was pretty unhappy when I realized that stacking the head gaskets means the intake manifold no longer fits lol. After upping the size of the bolt holes it sat down in place just fine.

I've also managed to receive the wrong 3 bolt T3 exhaust flanges twice (swear fest '09). The bolt spacing is pretty large on these turbos and I cant find a part number for the correct flanges.

Mocked thngs back up today just to stand and stare. Its looking pretty good.

Have you decided about body work. I dont think an engine that nice should be in anything but a car with a flawless body. Also hows the shape of the interior?

I'll be using the stock headlights as of now. The drivers side headlight does fit. I had to do some trimming to the rad support as you can see. But it it is still rigid. I plan on doing an HID conversion at some point. Going to vacuum form the lenses this time.

The body is near perfect except for a couple surface rust spots from chipped paint. The interior is mint. Its a decent v8 in that respect. I plan on swapping over all the alcantra seats I saved from the 5000. And of course swapping over the drivers seat arm rest.

I plan on painting it. I was going to stay with the black theme I like so much but the pearl is starting to grow on me. If I stay pearl I will definitely spray the whole car as you couldnt pay me enough to try and match 20 year old pearlescent paint. Thats on the bottom of the to do list right now. At this point I just want to DRIVE IT.

I'm a tad bit puzzled adam..? From the pics I can see that you don't have your timing belt in yet. Are you expecting to tear everything back apart, or is there some secret to timing belt jobs I'm not aware of?

Just curious

Its just mocked up for fitment purposes. Two bolts and the rad support will come back off. I've had things on and off so many times....

So no, I'm not doing the invisible timing belt mod

Thanks guys. I'm getting pretty excited to have it done. Its got me up nights in anticipation. Really.
