Default I buried a fuel pump today. a moment of silence please..............

well I was driving on the highway today, shifted gears and then she started to stumble so I pulled over and assest the situation. luckily I was about five miles from my trusted Audi mechanic. The symptoms were this: engine would stumble at half throttle, so I was doing about 40 mph on the way to my mechanic. then the stumbling got worse, 1/4 throttle would stumble, then to the piont where I had to feather the gas to keep her moving. by the time I got there I couldnt go faster than 15mph. The pump didnt actally die, but it definatly could'nt make enough pressure to run the engine faster than 2000 rpm. so the new pump will run about $200 from bluafergnugen, which is cheap compared to other ones I've priced. well the car will be fixed monday, so I'll let you guys know what happens. There is a definate love hate relationship going on with me and my car.

Ps. As I was crawling along the highway with my hazards on and people passing by, I started to wonder this: do guys who own these older Audi's ever have enough money to go on a vacation? In my case, not after today

Default Re: I buried a fuel pump today. a moment of silence please..............

I've had to spend 2 out of my 3 weeks of vacation last year, some holidays, plus numerous weekends, just to wrench my 1990 200q.

Planning to take at least another week this Spring just to go at it again...
1. AC clutch,
2. instrument panel,
3. cooling system,
4. struts, wheel bearings, control arms, tranny mounts, subframe mounts.
5. rear window regulators,
6. trunk water leaks,
7. trunk wiring,
8. driver door wiring,
9. power seat memory,
10.front speakers installed,
11.replace leaking hydraulic pump,
12.replace bosch heat flap servo motor,
13.replace heater core and heater valve,
14.cruise control,
15.brake hoses, brake bleeding,

Better make that 2 weeks.

Default Got a call from my mechanic today.......

he said aside from the noise the pump is putting out the right amount of pressure. he wont be able to look at it until wednsday but he said it could be the pressure regulater at the fuel distributer.does anyone think I should replace the pump anyway? I wish I knew what was going on.

I'm so glad he called today because I was going to order the pump today from blau so it would be here monday.
