wheel plus sizing poll - plus 1 or plus 2 on a stock MC1
Usually I only go plus 1, how slow would a plus 2 sizing on a stock MC1 be? I know it suffers from lag already, would going plus 2 or larger just make it a terrible city daily driver?

I never plus size. Performance suffers...
just like plus sizing, putting on large rotors, doing performance mods for a a modest gain in hp and then discovering that acceleration is not better but sometimes worse. Granted the better binders would reduce lap times in the hands of a skilled driver... but we are talking daily driver not race car. That's my $0.02.

it wont suffer as much if you maintain the overall size..
increase rim size (try for lower weight) and shorten tire size. so if you start with 26" of tire on 15" rims you end up with 26" of tire on say 16" or 17" rims

I noticed a drop in acceleration when using my 16s.
Engine is a stock MC2. I have a plus-1 setup consisting of 16" Audi/Ronal Swings.
Compared to the stock BBS forged 15s, the 15s had better acceleration and took the potholes and ruts better around Boston.
For your purposes, stick with 15".
Idealy, try to find a set of Fuchs forged 15x7 wheels. Light and mad strong.

Car would be dropped (once I get it), but I want less sidewall either way.
Also what's the best springs to use (on the cheap) w/ H&R's? Boge Turgo gas? Bils?

Are the Ronal R8's forged?
I found the Ronal R8's come in 15x7, ET42.
They look good! The Fuchs are probably lighter though.
If they are 15x7, you may try a 205/55-15 (overall 24" dia.) With the car lowered it may not be noticable and acceleration will be better.
If you wish to stick with stock rolling dia. then stay with a 205/60-15 (~24.6" dia.).
A 215/55-15 will yield same dia. but tire choice is limited and may rub the fender.
