Ok thanks, what is best way to determine that?
I don't want to pull the wheel off unless needed.
Smell burning inside and outside car, wipers only work on high. I think they might have been on and frozen to windshield while car was warming up.
If it was the switch would I smell it out side too? Smell all the time?

Pulling the wheel off is a (0) wrench job on the scale! The "key" is to have the
ignition key out of the ignition. No need to disconnect the battery & loose the radio.
Not to sure you could smell the smoke/burning from the outside if it was smoking/burning on the inside... or visa versa ;-)
Let me ask... whats the K's on the car? When did it start smelling like something was burning? Does it smell when you are not using the wipers?
Is the plastic clamshell covering the colume switches warm?
Have you check the voltage @ the wiper motor to see if it was getting more amps than it should?
DO YOU SEE SMOKE... or just smell something that smells like it's burning?

no smoke, smel it inside/outside when wipers are on and off, 240,000 on car
started to smell after the car was warming up for (gulp) 20 minutes one cold morning in driveway, believe the wipers were on and frozen to the window.
i did not do this, it was a friend.
have to check on the cover to the switches, car is at the body shop now getting the rear lower valance repaired that we cracked.
have not checked the voltage at motor, will do that when we get it back friday or saturday
it should get how many amps normally?
