Default 20v's going on a 3,000 mile trip... any suggestions for emergency trunk parts?

Not that I think anything will go, everything has been addressed really, but can anyone think of a nice trunk emergency kit just in case? February we're taking her from SF Bay area -> scottsdale AZ for MLB spring training, then up to the grand canyon and back to the SF bay area...

Im excited... but at the same time this trip will push me even closer to the 90k mark

Default Fresh spare tires, coolant, jack, and a 5gal gas can are the major ones. oil change before the trip

Have fun in SF! I've been wanting to go there too. Might make a road trip this summer.

I keep torx bits and a the usual sockets (10mm, 13mm), some vice grips, duct tape, and zip ties...

Default ignition switch, spare alternator (if you have one), fluids, full size spare tire

and a tool kit to do any of that work.

Default Personally, I'd find and print a list of Dealers and Indy shops along the way

If you find a problem along the way it's life's guaranty that that will be the one item you did not load in your trunk full of spares. Hit up the regional forums for recs.

I'll start - You will have no Audi specialist from the Grand to Salt Lake City but St George, Utah has some good general shops.

Salt Lake -
Dealer = Dave Strongs 801 433 2834
Indys = Alpine 801 355 6459, Utah Imports 801 533 9600

Have fun

Default Well the trip starts in SF...

Then down to LA, across to Scottsdale, up to grand canyon, then directly back to the SF bay area.. probably going to scope out whats in AZ and in SoCal for emergency parts...

Default Re: On-board B3 20V spares. Out of the blue, I blew the centre out of the hydraulic...

<center><img src="http://www.20v.org/lagos2.jpg"></center><p>...pressure <b>warning switch,</b> for the hydralic brake assist. It sits on an angle, aft of the M/C, on the inboard side of the four-bolted stand-off that is the servo, in between the M/C and the firewall.

When it goes, this could really ruin your day. Enroute, you really don't want to be looking to find this switch, let alone the GOO-2000 you will lose when this goes.

This switch's function: "warning light on instrument panel will come on if pressure drops to between..."

Go quietly and bookmark this site below and perhaps don't broadcast it (this is the only illustration I could find, thank-you Mr. Dimon). See there the "pre"-Bentley, factory Audi FSIS (Fiche Service Information System) manual, complete! (see link below), item #20, page 47.25, for the Hydralic brake servo pressure warning switch.

Once there, go:
- toc.pdf (about half-way down the page);
- Brakes, Steering Groups 45, 46, 47, 48 (top of RH column);
- Group 47 Brake Hydralic Components, Regulator, Booster;

Then scroll down to page 47.25 (go to page 31 of 33: this feature will display while you have your finger pressing to engage the scroll function)

See item #20 Warning switch. The description is on the following page.

It's small, cheap &amp; vital. Oh, and did anyone mention, take your Bentley and perhaps a few print-outs from 20v.org?<ul><li><a href="http://dimon.drummotor.net/techdocs/AudiB3/">Audi 90 B3 Technical Info...</a></li></ul>

Default Best line from the GC to SF puts you through Salt Lake

I15 to I80. You can go over via the 50 but that is one lonley stretch
