Default 91 CQ sunroof issue

hi -
I have this question posted on numerous audi forums hoping someone can give me an answer. I am trying to restore a 91 CQ that was on its way to becoming a rally car. During that transformation the sunroof was removed and replaced with a piece of plexiglass held down by some bolts to some steel that was welded in each of the corners of the sunroof hole. I have been able to locate an original sunroof/motor/etc and have removed all the pieces of steel. But, I have this lip that goes across the front of the hole and part way down each side. I am not sure if the car came like that or it was added to hold the plexiglass.

I have a thread on motorgeek with some pictures.

If you happen to know the answer please let me know.

thanks

Hi there,

Great to hear you are restoring her. Can you post a picture of this "lip" you are referring too?

Thanks,
