Default Airbag light is suddenly on. . .searched all forums. . .

Last Friday my airbag light came on and has been on ever since. From looking at posts I saw when I did a search for "Airbag light" it appears that with a VAG tool I can reset the light or I can blow $100 at the dealer.

I know there is a procedure in the tech. section that detials how to read trouble codes when the check engine light comes on and tells how to reset the codes. Will reseting the codes following that procedure reset the airbag light as well or only the check engine light? Can I read codes this way without a VAG tool that would cause the airbag light to turn on or only codes related to the check engine light?

I just want to make sure it's not a fluke before I pay $100 to the dealer to run a diagnostic and replace a bulb or something worthless like that. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Default the problem is not the light, the problem is whatever is wrong with the airbag. THERE IS A RECALL.

You might be a able to get the problem fixed at the dealer because there is a recall on the airbag system. Let me know. All you have to do is go to the audi dealer and give them your vin number, they will tell you if there are any recalls that have not been completed on your car. also, you can do a recall search online. I don't know the website offhand.

Default Air Bag Light

My air bag light came on due to a short in the instument cluster. Check your connections, I had a burnt out blulb that was grounded wrong. It's a real pain to pull it all apart, but if the airbag light is on, the bag won't deploy in the case of an accident!
