Default Audi 2.8 V6 convertible 1998

Hi Guys
Can anyone advise me on the fan switch in the car. When I put the fan on to air the windscreen the airflow is powerfull but to get the airflow out of the front and side vents it's very poor. Not sure if there is something that needs changing etc..
Thanks

Could be the blend door flaps inside the HVAC box have lost their foam coverings. See my Audi pic above. If you have some blackish foam bits in the vents..that is a sign. When that happens the air-flow is not diverted around the center vents or footwell vents..the defroster flap is less likely to cause problems as it is solid without the holes..so the defroster works.

Your A/C will not work well too..as the heater is on all the time by design..and the flapper closes it off from the cold side..until the flapper looses the foam coverings.

The remedy is to remove the HVAC box and re-cover the flaps with HVAC tape..and install a new heater core too..while you are in there.

Rusty is 100% spot on. Probably THE worst PITA job to do. As a caution, the aftermarket heater cores look good, but the cover that snaps them in to the heater box won't quite fit, so it's a gamble. Then it's back to the dealer to get an Audi part. Ouch.

Easy or hard..well no..it is tedious. About a day.

Here is a write up, in German, on a Cabriolet without airbags:https://www.audi-cabrio-club.info/fa...turenbrett.pdf

Follow the procedure for removing the airbags on a USA car..not too bad..there are some airbag brackets that need to be removed too.https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...moval-2875106/

Hi Rusty
Would you suggest getting the aircon re-gassed first in case it works.
I basically bought the car off someone that didnt know anything about the history of the car and i just made the assumption that it needed re-gassing but then felt that there wasnt much air coming out of the side vents compared to the screen air vent so havent as yet had it re-gassed.
Cheers

Could be warped rotors and worn out brake pads..time to pull the wheels and take a look.

Could be the lower control arms bushings are shot. They are pressed into the lower "A" arms. It can be a DIY job if you have a press. See the link. It is in German but if you open it in Chrome you can do a translate to english.

Here is the USA we have the forged lower "A" arms..not the pressed type.
