B3 ABS disable button on dash not working?
So, there is a button on the dash center that should allow me to disable the ABS system. I'm looking for any input on it in case someone has guidance on common issues. Seems like it would be a simple function to disable, so does anyone have suggestions on where to start? When I push the button, nothing lights on either the switch itself, or on the dash or gauges. I don't know if I can only push it at low speeds, etc, so I am in the dark as to how it operates as well if anyone knows.
I've had the car for 5 years and have never messed with the switch, just figuring I'd only want to shut off the ABS to slide around on the snow, etc. Well, I've got the whole car functioning as new except for a couple tiny things and this is one.
Any input for me to resolve this? Thanks in advance!

Doug..I could be wrong...did the B3-B4 USA cars have a disable switch for the ABS? I don't recall seeing a button on the dash center for this.
Found a picture..is yours like this?

Yep, that's it exactly. I would expect it to illuminate the switch itself, and the "ABS deactivated" light on the dash that comes on when the rear diff is locked. But it doesn't appear to do anything. So I'm hoping someone will say "Check fuse 17" as its the common issue or similar. I have pulled the switch previously and confirmed it is connected. My next step is to pull and clean the switch but while it's out, I'd like to know in advance if there is a common known issue. Thanks in advance.
Heck for all I know there is a safety feature so it is supposed to be activated with the key in the ON position, then you can start and drive without ABS until you restart or something logical for safety. Owner's manual is silent on this point.
Anyhow - pointers? Thanks!
