Default Cabrio Top Problems

Hey guys...I searched, but I really don't know what to search for.

Patient is a 1995 Audi Cabrio, U.S. Spec.

The top is stuck in the down position. The lid that the top closes into will not open to start the sequence.

The hydraulics have been bled. The car has been to the Audi dealer where the scan tool was connected. The scan tool gives different readings (problems) each time the cods are reset and re-tested. They've checked each of the switches, which all apparently are in spec.

The problem is there were only two cabrio's sold in Canada...so really, no one has SEEN these things...yet alone worked on them.

What is the common problem with the tops, I KNOW I've read about tops not going down/up but can't seem to find it in the archives.

Are there common problems here?

-Dave

Default Dave, here's what we had to do to mine when I got it...

won't do anything if it does not register that the brake is applied.....just a thought.

Default well for time being there is a procedure to manually raise the top..

flip up the wings and release the levers on each side, pull up on the lid/cover, pull out the top, then pull up on the back of the top to 90 deg angle, then close the lid, re-latch the lock mechanism, lower the back of the top and pull down the front of the top and latch it on the inside.

As far as problems, wiring on both sides of trunk lid, brake switch, and ignition switch getting stuck are the only issues to date that have arisen around here so far.

My top problem was the wiring in the trunk, it wouldn't go down, i did it manually for about a month until azeeem posted that repair pic.

if you get CEL/Codes, i can help you out
