hey thanks man....hope your right...hahah

What about OBD I/II? '96 12V is OBDII.
Are the newer engines backwards compatible with the older ECUs?

Re: What about OBD I/II? '96 12V is OBDII.
I have no idea what this means...please fill me in...im stuck with a car that i love but has too many miles one it..

They changed diagnostic standards in 1996...pre-1996 cars were OBD-I, 96+...
...are OBD II. I was asking MikTip if the differences will effect you.

OBD is the electronics. Engine mechanicals are same.
Yes, there have been updates and changed to the engine mechanicals, as well as the ODB system's but the majority of the engine mechanicals are interchangable.
|
So keep the old electronics, put in the new engine? I didn't know if they'd work or not...only...
...thought that came to mind.

Its good to have such thoughts! ;O)
Audi makes subtle changes, and dont tell a sole.
Usually we find these out because of having to repair something. We stumble across something we didnt see in the Bentley, or see posted here. This is why were all here, to ask these questions, and get the collective answers. ;O) |
Yes, many subtle changes to the 12V over the years! :oS
