Changing brake fluid today.....

the bentley says : "On vehicles with the brake proportioning valve, the adjustment device 3284 must be installed in the holes provided in the brake proportioning valve." Is this device crucial in order for me to perform the fluid change, cuz if it is i donno where to get it.
Thanks

Whats the Reason?
Whats the reason for changing your brake fluid? If your system is contaminated with naother type of fluid such as Power steering fluid or trans fluid changing just the fluid wont help very much. You would need to replace the components of the master cylinder and all rubber hoses because they could have swelled decreasing braking effiency.
If you are changin because you have water in the lines then that isnt going to solve the problem. Brake fluid should last forever because its a completely closed system and should never become contaminated.
If you are flushing you can by some brake fluid and pressure or vaccuum bleed the system and just keep topping off the fluid reservoir until you feel that all of the fluid is new and the old has been bled away. This presents its own problem because your not going to be able to get all of the old fluid out.
Whatever you do when bleeding make sure that the master cylinder doesnt get low enough to where your bringing air into the system. Rule of thumb, half full. Hopefully this helps.
As for the part i looked at zdmak.com but couldnt find that part number on their website nor a tool.
On smastag i found that number and they call it an adjustment device.
Take a look...

Samstag 3284 Adjustment device

Brake fluid is "Hygroscopic"
meaning the tendency of materials to absorb moisture from the air.

http://autorepair.about.com/cs/generalinfo/l/bldef_058.htm</a

Yes i understand the meaning of Hygroscopic
It means that it absorbs water. Yes that concept i understand.what I am trying to point out however, is that hsi system, unless there is a pinhole leak or worn seal that would allow water to get into the line, shouldn't have any water. Just changing the brake fluid is a temp fix. Just like changing a Catalytic converter without finding out why it failed.
