Clatter / clinking / "pinging" on acceleration
95 Q..Obviously 5 speed. I searched and did not find a good match to this. On take off from a stop there is loud clatter that sounds like it is around mid cabin (under car). The slower I take off the less the noise but it never completely goes away. Oil changes do nothing (valves). This is getting louder as time goes on. I have read about cats making noise, but this does not do it when you rev the motor only when you move. At speed the car is quiet. Any suggestions as to what to look for?

drive shaft center support bearing, or heat shield, although the latter is not likely unless the center support is so weak as to allow the driveshaft to vibrate and move enough to make contact with it.

I had a similar problem, the shop that did my clutch awhile back mounted the exhaust wrong...
so that the drive shaft would actually hit the exhaust. Unfortunately I didn't do any of the work back then, winter time, no garage , so I don't know exactly what they did.

Check for a loose or worn motor/trani mount
loose or worn motoror trani mount will shift the angle of the engin/trans and bang and hit into all sorts of things like exhaust hitting the sheilds or floorboards.

You hit the problem dead on. The driveshaft center bearing is loose to the point where you can move the shaft up and down into the heat shields. Ever take the driveshaft out before??? 1995 90Q.
