The CQ is back together following the work to correct after the winter fire

But now no spark at the plugs. Bentley says Hall sender circuit. Any other thoughts?
New /used distributor & leads, rotor is good. All else works like a champ- just no spark.
Is there any sympathetic circuits related to the ignition system? I'm thinking throttle pot or idle switch may be related some how.

Crank Position sensor/RPM sensor??

Did you take them loose?

Getting any spark from the coil?

Just connect a spark plug to the coil wire directly and have someone crank to see if she sparks..

Have you converted to brass distributor gear? Have you pulled codes?

Mine's early enough I swapped in a bulb (think I stole seatbelt bulb as suggested) into inst cluster.

http://www.20v.org/fault.htm</a

I had the same problems after I had the top of the motor disassembled. This was my solution...

I checked the power at the coil and everything else with the ignition system checked out (power @ hall, hall pulse, etc. However, the battery voltage was at 10.5 volts. So, I put my charger on the battery and then checked the connections at the distributor where the plug attaches to it. I made sure that those pins on the female plug on the dizzy were in good contact with the male side of the connector. After a bit on the charger, and doing that, I took the coil wire off the dizzy and sat it on the IM in a place where I would be able to see spark. Turned the car over and there it was! Plugged the coil wire back in the cap and ignition has been good ever since. Hope this helps.

Easy way to check if your gear broke, take the cap off and see if you can spin the rotor

The dizzy is either bad or you put it in wrong.

Did you make sure to install it with the engine at TDC with the two marks lined up?

YukonAudi 07-23-2008 02:32 PM

BTDT no spark, I'm now chasing wires to maker sure nothing else got scorched

I have changed a few wires that were iffy, nothing with the hall sensor circuit just injector and other minor systems. Maybe another fault lurks which have not yet discovered.

YukonAudi 07-23-2008 02:33 PM

Nope, but I'm checking the wiring involved

All in place per manual. I am thinking of swapping the old dizzy as I know that worked well
