CQ shifter problem
i took the maiden voyage out of the driveway this morning after insuring and registering the car, and i quickly realized i have the apparently common problem of the shift mechanism going bad. hopefully y'all can help me find the right part.
specifically, there is a plastic piece that is supposed to hold the ball in place. at the moment, i'm able to lift the shift lever up about 2 inches, and i can see the plastic piece is not sitting level. i think the piece i need is labeled #8 in the attached picture, but i don't know what it's called or what the part number is.
i did search here and saw a thread about a shifter lock ring (pt. # 893711511a), but i want to make sure this is the same part i need before i order it.
thanks for your input.

i pulled the shift mechanism out of the car today. the ball housing looks to be in fine shape, but the plastic insert is broken (893 711 026C). is it possible to just buy the insert, or do i need a whole new ball housing?
btw, after comparing the picture above to what was in my car, i realized there was no lock ring in there. obviously broke at least once before, and the po never replaced it.
thanks for putting up with my noob questions - i'm much more familiar with volkswagens.

yeah, you're right. i ordered everything from worldimpex.com monday. should be here by thursday. that gives me time to fix the brakes (rusty) and put new manifold gaskets (hole-y) in in the meantime...
