Fried fusing link?
Hello everyone,
my car is 1992 Audi Coupe 2.0 85kw, I think the engine code is ABK.
Basically I was putting my battery back in and the negative terminal was on, and I just wanted to make sure the postive terminal bolt was tightly secure. The next thing I know ratchet is welding to the body, there is fire and some sparks coming. It stayed there for good 30 sec until I grabbed a hammer and smashed the ratchet off. Long story short battery is fine showing 12.6 volts, but the car doesn't start or show any signs of life.
I checked all the fuses in the fuse box. All are fine. I read online about something which is fusing link, but was unable to find information on where it is located on my car.
How do I fix it?
---------
I am deeply embarrassed by my stupidity and angry at myself. I have a mechanical engineering undergraduate degree for Christ sake. I never actually worked on cars and started to do stuff only a month ago when I bought my Audi. It even sounds logical, that all of the cars body is ground and you should never touch positive to ground. What can I say. I am a dumbass.

Does it turn over at all? Can you hear the starter clicking when you turn the key over? Interior lights light up? If not then you may be getting 12v at the battery only but it's not being distributed.

Hey.
Thanks for the answer, but I asked my friend and he basically said I just shorted the battery. I connected everything back and it just works.
So moderators can lock and archive this thread.
