Cab guys, I need some info
I've been tracing wires to see why my trunk light won't illuminate. I need to know if yours will illuminate without the headlights on. I have an early production '95 that has '94 wiring. I was able to discern that I have continuity up to the aux relay panel. I even found the diode, J201 and it tested good. That was a PITA. ('95 wiring doesn't have the diode.) I thought the connector to the bottom of the fuse panel looked not quite right and pressed it in more. Now the trunk light illuminates with the trunk open and only when the headlight switch is on. Goes out when the trunk closes. Normal? The wiring digram leads you to believe that the light is always powered and only illuminates when the trunk switch gives it a ground when the trunk opens. It also looks like the license plate lights would always be on, too. So something is wacky in the diagram. Let me know about your lights. Thanks in advance.

My 95 Cabriolet does not act that way. It comes on when I open the trunk and goes off when the lid gets to a certain angle (towards closed).
I actually disconnected the light before, because I wanted to make sure the light was not staying on.

Thanks Mike. The '95 wiring shows a separate switch for the trunk light. The '94 wiring uses the same switch that the Conv Top uses to know that the trunk is closed, which is a micro switch activated by the trunk latch closed position. I wish my '95 had '95 wiring.

Thanks Grillage. That's exactly how I think it should work. Here's the wiring page with some additional pieces put in. I put the meter on the T10b/1 contact point and there is no voltage unless the lights are on. Looking more closely at this, if S14 fuse was always powered, the license plate lights would always be on. 151 goes to E1, the light switch, so that is the obvious source of power when the lights are on, and 99 goes to the instrument panel dimmer switch. 290 goes to the ground through the trunk switch, which you proved extinguishes the light when the trunk closes. The n line at the S14 fuse terminates at the Headlight washer system relay. So I'm stumped as to where the trunk light gets its power from when the lights are not on. The realy curious thing is, why does this line need a diode to prevent back flow of power. Where would the opposite direction power be coming from?

Glove box light doesn't work either. This must be a problem in the A7 positive connection. Naturally, there is not a diagram for the location of this connection. Anybody know where that is located?
