how to avoid radio SAFE mode
1989 90 2.3 about to have dash removed to investigate blend doors and swap heater core. It has the stock radio, which in this car is Wiesbaden 893 035 180. Sometimes when the battery goes dead slowly the radio never enters SAFE, which is nice. Should I disconnect the battery before removing the radio, or just remove it? The radio is going to be out for maybe a week.

First I am surprised it still works, second a good aftermarket would solve this issue.
To answer the question though, if you have the grey folder [Like I did with my 88'] the code will be in there on card, about the size of a business card.
If you don't have this and it goes to safe then it's essentially locked and I really am not sure how you would reset it.
