Default I am confused... The Bentley says

that if you remove the intake manifold and only replace one head gasket, then the other head bolts need a quarter turn.

Does that mean that if I remove the intake manifold and neither head, that both sets of head bolts need a quarter turn?

Torquing head bolts is only "required" if you R&R head gasket! ;O)

Default That procedure is correct, strange as it sounds. There is apparently an interaction between the.....

headbolts and the nearby intake manifold bolts. The Audi engineers wrote that into the service manual for a reason!!

So do you read that as I need to torque both heads if removing & installing intake?
