Initial Coilover Conversion Kit release is here...

Here's some info:

Black hard anodizing went a little closer to dark chocolate brown instead of the deep rich black I was seeking. But where these hide no one but us will ever know.

I opted to machine .010" off the internal spring guide on the lower perches after anodizing. You can see this in the center lower perch in pic. This is how they will be shipped. I just didn't like the tightness of the spring on the internal guide as it was a little snug for my tastes and could've made height-adjustment a little more difficult than necessary as spring would've wanted to turn with perch instead of allowing perch to turn freely within the spring. Next production run will eleiminate this and I've corrected it on the other pieces in picture via black magic marker. No harm as anodizing is only critical on the threads to prevent gauling and this doesnt affect those on either the lower perch internal threads or the threaded sleeves outer threads.

The sleeves on these were lapped/honed before anodizing to be a perfect, tight "twist-on" interference fit over the stock strut tubes after sanding paint off. No adhesive or fixative required to install. And no sloppiness or noise will ever come from this area. Will likely fit over stock strut paint as well if struts are meticulously cleaned and lightly sanded/greased prior to installation.

Each kit will be shipped "per pair" basis only and consist of the following parts:

1. 1 pair threaded sleeves

2. 1 pair "split-ring" locking clamp w/stainless allen cap screw lower threaded height-adjustment perches

3. 1 pair weld-on strut tube collar rings.

4. 1 pair upper perches with either large/small thru-bores.

5. 1 pair "thin" upper urethane noise insulator spring seats

6. 1 pair "thick" lower perch urethane noise insulator spring seats

7. New mounting hardware and adapter kits to adapt previously sold Pro-Mounts to coilover configuration. Those ordering Pro-Mounts at same time as CCK's will have their Pro-Mounts pre-adapted to coilovers.

Only 2 options available with these as listed below:

1. 14mm thru-bores in front upper perches for stock Bilsteins in swaged strut tubes or UrQ Bilstein HD's for larger bodied struts and struts with big-bore strut tube extenders. All upper perches are pre-bored for this during manufacture.

2. Large thru-bore in upper perch for fitting UrS4/6 Bilstein Sport Struts. Existing upper perches will be bored over-size for these at no additional charge.

** IMPORTANT NOTE** These are for use with Bilstein Struts and Mance-Mounts/Pro-Mounts only! They will NOT work with ANY other strut mount PERIOD!!! Only thing not included in above pic that does come in each kit is the custom fasteners required up top for each strut threaded end within the strut mount as I'm machining those on tomorrow/Wednesday. First orders of these CCK's will ship on Friday.

Pricing:

This initial Beta/Prototype run will be sold for $155.90 per pair and there are 18 pair available. Price includes USPS Priority Mail shipping w/Delivery Confirmation to lower 48 states. Canadian orders add $5.00 for standard shipping or $17.50 for USPS Global Express (1 week) delivery.

Next production will see prices closer to $195 per pair tho I expect by that time many will just opt for Stage 2 and up struts with these pre-installed.

I won't post these on my site initially due to limited numbers until you guys have had first crack at them. If after a week or so I have units remaining I will post them at the site.

As with all things I sell these have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee whereby you can return them for any reason whatsoever within 30 days in original containers and "like-new/uninstalled" condition and get a full refund including shipping charges to you. After 30 days warranty is lifetime in nature and limited to replacement of any failed part.

I want! I already bought the extenders from you. These work together correct?

VAP 06-11-2007 09:44 AM

Yes, EVERYTHING strut-related from Mance-Mounts forward is modular and proprietary architecture...

anything/everything I make works with anything/everything I make.

Cool. Can you send me a paypal money request for the proper kit for 4 corners? Thanks!!

VAP 06-11-2007 10:04 AM

I can tonight. I'm at the CNC computer and can't get to my Paypal account from here...

But basically $155.90 x 2 if shipping to your US address and my PP account name/address is same as my email address listed under my user name in every post.

Cool thanks.

Where is the best place to find springs for these? and dimensional info on the springs plz?

I do know you were talking 500/550 rates for a daily driver IIRC

Re: Initial Coilover Conversion Kit release is here...

I've read most of your posts on these, but I would like to clarify a little, as there are a few things I don't know / understand. Apologies in advance if they are novice.

I currently have Bilstein Sport shocks and H&R springs on my B3 sedan;

- Can I use the CCK with these springs or do I need a specific style (etc.) of spring?

- My small bore struts are fairly new, is there any way that I can use what I have with the CCK, and convert to a large bore strut in the future?
Thanks,

Marty

Don't feel bad about asking questions as this is a complex and confusing subject even for me...

less now than initially tho still more than I'd like and admittedly I have to "think" about any/all answers at-length before responding.

You cannot use the CCKs with the springs and shocks you're running now. You can opt for BBSE's at any time with your current springs but must then upgrade to UrS4 Bilstein strut inserts on every strut you weld the BBSE's to. That way you'd have the H&R springs you're using now but a whole 'nother league of shock in the struts.

Only time CCK's are used is when you're converting to coilover setup and their inherent benefits.

You also "must" use either Pro-Mounts or Mance Mounts with any/all of these parts as your strut mount. Mance-Mounts are no longer available new but Pro-Mounts are and can be researched at the below link.

VAP
