Passenger window regulator in '91 CQ

I've searched on other forums; just joined here to see if someone here can shed some light (I searched here too...there were threads but no answers).

I've been told by some people that window regulators in the 90 series will work in my CQ. I've been told by others that they don't. My passenger window is currently being held up by a block of wood (bought it that way). I want to get a regulator but I refuse to pay $300-400 for a new one off the internet. I know a guy who has a reg out of 90 that he'll sell for $30, but I don't want to drive two hours to get it if it won't fit.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

90 regulators will not work on a CQ. You "may" still be able to find them as rebuilt for about half the price of new.

What's wrong with your regulators?

the cable is snapped. hence the block of wood holding the window up.

crooked.

motor works fine, though.

I may have one set of cables left. I have one frame on the shelf, but don't remember if it's left or right. I'll look. Not sure if I'll be at the shop tomorrow or Wednesday.

I re-cabled my drivers side regulator.
You can buy 1/16" aircraft cable, either galvy or SS, at the hardware store for pennies per foot. I used SS.
I used Heavy duty mountain bike brake cable housing to re-do the short pieces of cable casing (just cut to same length as original) re-use the adjusters.
You can buy the cable end stops at the hardware store as well. I used a nicro press hand swager, but you can crush in a vise. The benltly manual helps out here, for getting it all lined up and working, but if you pay attention to how you take the old one apart, you can do it. Make sure the spool is in good condition, and no overides in the cable. The trick is to get the length of the cable correct, and properly tensioned. Good luck.
