PSA - Don't ever run your 7A without the exhaust heat shield...
It will melt your throttle position sensor. Hammering a torx bit in to stripped out alan bolts at 1am FTL. Those throttle body bolts are in a tight space too....
|
are you missing the heat shield?
I have a spare heat shield for the cast manifold if it helps
|
Nah I had it off, but now I have it back on
|
do you have a cast mani or a tubular?
I'd bet the tubular w/ no heatshield would cook anything on that side of the engine bay.
|
tubular
|
yep. i had the shield and it cooked my ABS sensor wire;)
|
MY ABS STOPPED WORKING... I haven't diagnosed yet. Anybody have a passenger side speed sensor?
That they know works?
|
Good luck. Mine fried the actual connector....where sensor and computer wire meet up. It was a mess.
Although, that wire should be nowhere near the exhaust...it somehow got lose on mine and was very close, if not touching it....it wasn't a distance heat melting.

check this to see if the 90 V8 car has the same sensor
I don't have teh ETKA to cross but, it will be a cheap "sealership" alternative. I also need a front passenger sensor. I am reluctant to purchase because when I installed a new outer cv joint on the driver side, the tone wheel on the cv has more teeth. I don't know if this would produce the same ac voltage needed by the system. If it comes down to it, i'll have to replace the passenger side cv to match.

sensor writeup

don't feel bad, i've seen way worse
I had a turbo failure on a Detriot Diesel. Basically the engine was running on engine oil. The exhuast got so hot, it melted everything back to the muffler. $16k worth of damaged, carpet, wiring, fiberglass. Boiled the paint off!The truck might as well caught on fire.
