Rear diff lock not engaging

Rear diff lock not engaging
Always did, but last night I hit the button to show it to a couple friends, the orange triangle lit up, but the diff would not lock. I tried stupid things like restarting the car, hitting the lock button a few times, slowing down and speeding up, stopping, etc. but it refused to lock. I turned a bit too under 15mph to make sure the green light didn't just die, and I didn't get that familiar wheel hopping.
I'm going to check the vacuum lines and connections on the rear diff later, just wondering if there is anything else I might look at. I read the switch is a common source of trouble, but if the triangle lights up - does that imply proper switch operation?
Thanks!

Maybe?
It's got too much ski-slope dirt packed up in there?
You need:
Proper vacuum
Under 15mph
Switch function
Actuator moves freely
I know you're at school, but if you come home this weekend. (Batavia AutoX BTW), jack it up and see if the actuator is really moving. Sometimes too, the front lock jams, and keeps the back one from moving. (I forget which trans you have?)
Don't do this while on a hill, we don't need any more accidents, Pat.
If you happen to come around to the AutoX, I should be there, and I'll give you a hand with it.
Send me an email(or PM me on DITB), and I'll give you my cell# if you don't have it.
What's the word on the old lights?
