Starting this thread over for Bosslove. '91 90q20v chipping
First of all, we're only talking a $225 dollar chip. So if you want to just do it and see, there's not much that can go wrong. But that said...
There are many tuners for old Audi's. As far as for your particular car, I'm not sure who does ECU tuning. TAP is alright... but they don't have a great reputation with most of us. My car had a Tap originally... it was terrible. First mod I made to my car was going back to stock software. That said... most of us are chipping turbo charged cars, which makes a much bigger difference. Personally, if I were you, I would look to cams, or exhaust in a quest for power. You will not get much from a Chip on a 20v non turbo. However, if I personally was going to chip a 20v non turbo... I would check with IA (www.intendedacceleration.com), and NEA (www.northerneuropeanautomotive.com) to see what they have to say about it. Others on here may have other suggestions - and again, I'm more familiar with the turbo side of things, maybe the Tap 90q20v chip is good... but from my experience, I would stay away from them. Or atleast do some research first. Good luck, Evan |
Someone DL'd the code from the stock Hitachi and the TAP version, and they were the same.
Or so I was told.
Also, Ivor was VERY unwilling to do anything with a 4kq I was looking at, claiming it was not possible to get the factory engine to produce 150hp, which I know is false. I've also seen first hand a 7A turbo conversion they did, and was very much NOT impressed with the work. The shop that was trying to rectify the build, as it was being sold AGAIN, told me "you do NOT want that car." |
DOAH!
Now we're talking! Dishing out the dirt! Thanks for keeping me informed before my money spent. I'll try those two websites, research then post my pic and results. Again...thanks

Old Audi tuning goes deeper than what's on their sites. Drop them an email with your question.
