Default superior audi

As the owner of a 90q which I use as a daily driver its becoming more apparent that the 90q has its fairshare of issues that actually may make it a better project car at least until the time comes that ive caught up on all the abuse and neglect that this car has faced. In the mean time any opinions on a model that is more reliable with more readily available parts, the a4 wins in the parts department but I want a more vintage audi, so any thoughts on the 5000? Any experienced opinions with this model would be appreciated

Sorry bud, but the older you go, the more problems you're going to run into. I would say that out of the big three germans (Benz, Bimmer, Audi), Audis are the least reliable. The 5000 was made until 1988. The C3 chassis was then updated and renamed in 1989 to Audi 100 (base, non-turbo model) and Audi 200 (turbo model), and made until 1991. They all came with Bosch KE-Jetronic (aka CIS-3) mechanical fuel injection (except for the 1991 20v turbo Audi 200 which wasn't offered in Canada). This type of fuel injection can become problematic with age.

If you're looking for an older Audi, my suggestions are '90-'91 90 quattro 20v or coupe quattro. Import a '91 200 20v turbo from the states, or pull the trigger and pick an Audi V8.

Default If you're going for old style..

I love the audi 4k's. V8's are just mean. If you want some big power go with the 200 20vt or the UrS4 cauz you can deff have lots of fun in those, you can build them pretty big too.

The A4 [B5] still has a bit of classic look but not like the 90 and previous.
The good news is the A4 still has parts whereas 90 and back some parts are now NLA so you are forced to buy used stuff at junkyards if you can even find the part.

Other parts as they get low in stock the price goes up as well.

Non essential items to keep the car actually running like door trim is basically NLA or in very low supply and most likely will not be made again.

It can be hard to keep the car in nice shape when you can't find items.

I think im hoping to pick up an A8 or an A4, the size and power of the A8 is nice but I hate automatics and havent really found any A4s with a manual near me either, no hurry I suppose the right Audi will come along, id hate to buy a late 80s 3 series as im not really a fan of BMWs, and Mercedes made everything auto except cars that were exclusively sports cars like the 500SL, its to cool that have a nice manual sedan the rip around in

The 500SL came with an automatic only. The 190E 2.3L and 2.6L comes with a 5spd manual. The 1986 and '88 300E also came with a 5spd but it is extremely rare.
