Swaping ecms in 95 90 do they need to be reprogramed ?
My ecm has a few issues and I've been thinking of replacing it . I was curious to know if the ecm (off a donor car) had to be reprogramed for me to "plug and play" it .or if I could just get the donor ecm and as long as the part # is the same it would work?

If the ECU is off the same model with the same transmission/engine..should work. Part numbers are likely the same..it is the internal software you have to watch out for.
Checking the software/workshop coding on both ECUs is a good idea..if you have a Ross Tech or find a buddy with one.

Unfortunately i dont have Ross Tech, i may be able to find someone with one though. Aswell as i was planning on finding a source for the ecm via Internet or a business i was refereed to by a acquaintance to try to source the part. So i wouldent really have the ability to hook up both and see if they are a match programming wise. (i assume programming for like electric heating or something of that nature?) if they are for the same engine and transmission atleast. If i get it shipped by the shop im sure theyll be knowledgeable enough to send me the right part with some info on my end.
