Tranny Update....the Audi mech. wants for tranny rebuild is $3,000.
 

found out that the sorry piece of **** mech that said he could work on the tranny cut my entire exhuast off to get the tranny off...is that right? i never heard the the exhuast needing to come off.

Put in a 5 speed. The rebuild wont last a year.

would the 5 spd. be cheaper to gather and install? and if so can u give a ballpark figure?

Depends largely on where you get the parts!

I had a couple salvage yards offer me all the parts for $1000!

anything i should ask concerning about a Good to Execellet shape 5spd?

What did German Transaxle tell you?
 

A rebuilt automatic from them, I was quoted much less than $3000.

German Trans. Axle qouted me est. $2200 for a 12/12 warranted Auto trans.
 

plus the Audi shop said they would not install a used rebuilt tranny that they did not rebuild be installed buy there shop. so im goin to just get my car towed back to my house and look for a 5spd. that seems like the best and cheaper option.

Mileage- the lower the better. Anything below 75K's good.

Guarantee-????

Most yards will only guarentee the gearbox, and not the smaller parts.

Well, thats another option to consider.

Was that quote for rebuilding yours, or a "new" rebuilt unit from GTA?

How much for the core charge? How much of the $2200 would you get back after sending yours in?

$600 is the core charge
