Warm liquid goo phase, complete...

Engine bay is not almost entirely clean. Some of it I'm just not going to worry about, I've already spent a fair amount of time with various stiff brushes and 5 cans of starter fluid to cut through the years of grime caused by a leaking hydraulic system.

I wiped down the headlamp/turnsig/foglamp harness with a fluid damped rag, got most of the gunk off that stuff as well.

In all, I think I spent around 7hrs cleaning the engine bay, and probably removed a few pounds of debris (leaves, dirt, sand, gravel, etc).

I'm not looking forward to this phase..

I've got an oil leak somewhere and without a windage tray it has been wind blown all over underneith. I imagine it will be very messy.

Invest in a 6-pack of starter fluid spray cans, a mask, safety goggles, gloves, a brass wire brush (two sizes, small and medium) and a stiff plastic bristle brush (I got away with a medium size). A couple spots where I had to brush away some rust I used a small stainless steel wire brush. Will go back and hit those with the Dremel and them primer (after I cut the batt. tray out, and get the B4 tower brace ends welded in).

More like "really f'in dirty!"

The entire drivers side fender area was black and gritty, covered in around 1/8" deep gunk. Ditto for the subframe. Pass side wasn't as bad. Also had to clean part of the CHF pump, and the reservoir was pretty disgusting on the outside. Cleaned up well though, with the starter fluid sprayed onto a rag.

Going to see if I can't borrow one from RW or EB...

You definitely need to put a digital camera on your Christmas list this year! 8-)

Or register for it for your wedding!!!!

I thought about registering for it actually. Not quite sure which model I want, as I'm pretty spoiled by the flexability of my Minolta 35mm SLR...I'll probably just get one like my roommates Fuji, its a 3.2MP with a good optical zoom, built in flash, and resembles an SLR.

Well, if you end up with some leftover cash, or decide to get one, here is my choice...

Kodak DX6490. By far the best you can get. A little under $500 (I know, pricey) but can record video equal to a digital video's quality for up to 2 minutes. Takes awesome pictures. My sister has it and I highly recommend it.
