Default What max hp can the stock mpi system handle on the V6?

Just interested to know what components limit the amount of output the V6 engine can handle.

Possibly the MAF voltage range or the flow rating of the injectors will be the major influencing factors or even the set parameters within the ECU?

Default Re: What max hp can the stock mpi system handle on the V6?

The "stock" MPI system does fairly well up to around 240HP. The problem is not the equipment, but more the programming. As the added air & fuel requirements are not programmed into the computer for it to react correctly. The MAF can be tweeked, along with the injectors for added fueling requirements, but results will be limited by the computers internal programming, and the O2 sensors programming constantly trying to reduce fuel.

Best solution is a "custom" chip, programmed to your specfic application, mods & power band.

Then you'll start seeing the limitations of specific components! )

I'm having to replace my 2 motor mounts & gearbox mounts because of their inability to adapt to the higher power output on my engine!

Default Anytime you "boost" incoming air, you effect many things!

One just cant drop one of those items in, and have no ill effects from it!

You must do your homework, for the engines longevity!

The circle goes "Fuel, Fire or Air". Alter any one, and the other 2 will need attention too!

Default Don't worry I'm well aware of the extra requirements, just wanted to know . .

about this type of products' credentials? would such a device that uses an electric motor be a wise investment as cost savings would be significant over a belt driven charger system although it does not supply continuous boost like a belt driven supercharger.

Thanks!

Default As your the first, to reveal the electric charger............

no one really knows! Especially on an Audi engine! Especially on an Audi V6!

You'd be the first!

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

Default Try this

There is some good information on electric superchargers in this thread, check the link in the post below as well. Also do a search in the performance forum, I think someone did an e-ram install on a 12v A4, Audiboy maybe?

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=122b3fbb6cd2f0eb6873055d9a4e4294& threadid=89588&highlight=eram</a

Default Re: well, it's gotta get power from somewere

ya know... conservation of energy

i wonder how much electricity the thing uses. more than the fans usually do? assuming it's anything like doing audio upgrades, you may want to pick up a larger alternator and/or battery to make sure this thing has enough juice.
