A1clock spring nightmare!!!
Hi, I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on this problem I'm having after replacing a clock spring on a customers 2011 A1 (8X0)
Its the first time I've used VCDS but after reading up in detail I think I did it correctly but now I've got more faults than when I started.
Initial scan:
this and reading up on other similar problems led me to diagnose the clock spring as the issue, replaced and coded which resulted in:
not what i needed!!!! after calming down from the panic that my first coding job had cost me £250 I've sort of got my head round VCDS coding and think I did what i was supposed to??
what i don't understand and think this is where the problem lies is in the first scan the fault is registered with Part No: SW: 8X0 953 501 B (switch stalks) HW: 5K0 953 569 H (clock spring)
in the second scan:
Part No SW: 5K0 953 569 AL HW: 5K0 953 569 AL (part no of the replacement clock spring)
I've come to the conclusion that perhaps the clock spring originally came as part of the switch stalk assembly and is the only programmable part of that joint assembly, is that correct??
Am I missing something? I read somewhere something about dealer codes but to be honest its all very alien to me, Ive tried posting on the rosstech forum but noones offered me a possible solution.
Ive used a genuine part and licensed copy of VCDS
I've done continuity tests on both units and the original clock spring definitely has a fault

not what i needed!!!! after calming down from the panic that my first coding job had cost me £250 I've sort of got my head round VCDS coding and think I did what i was supposed to??
what i don't understand and think this is where the problem lies is in the first scan the fault is registered with Part No: SW: 8X0 953 501 B (switch stalks) HW: 5K0 953 569 H (clock spring)
in the second scan:
Part No SW: 5K0 953 569 AL HW: 5K0 953 569 AL (part no of the replacement clock spring)
I've come to the conclusion that perhaps the clock spring originally came as part of the switch stalk assembly and is the only programmable part of that joint assembly, is that correct??
Am I missing something? I read somewhere something about dealer codes but to be honest its all very alien to me, Ive tried posting on the rosstech forum but noones offered me a possible solution.
Ive used a genuine part and licensed copy of VCDS
I've done continuity tests on both units and the original clock spring definitely has a fault
