Desiring to import a A1/S1 to the U.S.
I have owned an Audi A3 2.0T hatchback for the last 11 years and it has come to the point where I am going to have to say goodbye to her.
I found out about the A1 about 6 years ago at a car show in MD. An A1 that was imported was there. I fell in love. I have kept a close eye on Audi's new car releases every year since with the hopes that they would start selling them here and to my dismay, it still has not happened.
Now that I am in need of a new car I am hoping I can import the A1 easily into the U.S. Should I go through an Audi dealer here to help me import it or go directly to the manufacturer? Will the “Substantially Similar” clause fit as it is basically a smaller A3? Has anyone here already imported one or have any insight on the best way to do so? Any help you can give is appreciated.
