Default "Add lightness?"

Looking for ideas/products that will lower weight on an A3.

Wife says must have dsg.
Not willing to remove seats or other radical "stripping".
Cost *is* an issue.
Looking for savings of pounds, not ounces.

My list so far:

1. 2.0t fwd
2. 16.7 lb O.Z. 17" ultraleggera rims (can't afford rs10s)
3. aftermarket exhaust (not sure which, recommendations?)
4. no open sky
5. lose weight

Anyone know of other products? (e.g., hollow sway bars, carbon fiber body parts, etc.)

TIA!

Alas, she might object. Especially if done at speed...

Default Forget most of these, put your money in...

taking weight out of rotating mass (wheels, brakes, tires). That is the place you will feel the most difference.

What is the concensus on the lightest available wheels for the A3, in any reasonable size and offset?

Default Hartmann 17 inch RS4s are 20lbs each. OZ makes some even lighter.

Volk and SSR are bound to offer some at some point.

I hope SSR comes back from the ashes, or at least their technology...

Didn't Tire Rack buy them out - or something along those lines?

Default That would be cool, but so far no A3 compatible offset for SSR

I'm leaning toward OZ Ultraleggera. 16.7 lbs @ 17" but it's new so not sure about the strength (cast, not forged). If no other significant weight saving products emerge, I may opt to spend another $1000+ for the Neuspeed RS10 (17.8 lbs for 18").
