A3 Electrical Problem
Evening all,
This is my first post so forgive me if it is in the wrong area.
I have a 2008 A3 2.0 TDI. This morning I discovered an electrical fault like I have never seen before and am in hope someone can shine some light on it.
To begin with the car shows that the boot is open when it is closed, rear wiper stopped working. I unblocked the jet on the rear wiper a few days ago and it was working fine. I am aware of the problems where the rear wiper motor fails and leaks onto the tailgate locking system causing the fail in that area. I have ordered a new replacement wiper motor and currently searching for a replacement rear lock.
The bit that has made my head spin is...
At first the electrical problem killed all power to the horn, indicator lights. Hazard switch would flicker the glove compartment light intimately. The car would start but would die out straight away as if the plug was pulled. When I finally got the car going the boot open light would be on show and then the dash would stop killing all dials and lights. Turn off and start again. Car would then eventually run with me being able to use indicators. I put the blowers on high. The car would randomly take the blower speed down to low and back up to high and randomly flicker the blower control lights. The boot open light will then flicker on and off with the hand brake light turning on and off although the hand brake is on throughout all this. When I did eventually pull off I could here the car locking and unlocking multiple times on my journey with the blower speed going up and down along with its lights.
When parked up the alarm goes off at random so I have now disconnected the battery.
The boot lock is unplugged now as well as the wiper motor control but If you connect the battery back up the saga goes on and on.
I am in hope that the new wiper motor and new lock will solve this problem but I am doubtful seeing how sporadic the electrics have behaved today. The car has had no issued until today with its electrics.
Has anyone go any thoughts or should I call a priest to rid its demon?
