Hi
Depending on the specific model of A3, it may not have speakers installed in the rear, if it does, perhaps the installer didn't wire them up at the rear of the CDA. Could it be the rear speakers are non-factory fit and could be 2 Ohm instead of the required 4 Ohm? My A3 had the speaker cavities but no speakers when I bought it. I had a guy install Pioneer speakers and wire them to a new CD player, I later changed to Infinity Kappa 652.5i and they bring out the best in the CD player.

Re: ALPINE CDA-9812RR

the rear speakers are powered by an amp i would expect that they have not connected the "remote power" that sends 12V to the Amp when the stereo is turned on.

It took me a while to work out why mine didn't come on when I first installed the headunit.

The rears are powered off a separate amp in the sub. Don't bother wiring this up as it is feeble. Wire the HU directly to the rear speakers as you have 60w on the Alpine

PS. It has 60w peak x4<ul><li><a href="http://www.alpine-europe.com/alpine/cms/details.php?p=276&amp;details=1">ALPINE CDA-9833R More info</a></li></ul>
