Audi A3 front passenger door fault
Hi there, this is my first time on this forum. Just wondered if anyone could help. My central locking will not allow me to open my front passenger door from the outside. It still opens from the inside, and once this is done the passenger door will open from the outside.I have changed the door lock but still the same fault occurs. Anyone had same problem or any ideas. All i can think is that it may be a broken wire some where. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Check where the wires pass from the door frame into the door near the hinges. Sometimes they can 'work harden' as the doors have been opened and closed more than a few times. There should be a rubber boot cover over the wires which you need to peel back. Its fiddly but I have seen other write ups on this forum about the same problem..

Thanks John thought it may be something like that. I will let you know how I get on .

Hi John
Checked cable by door hinge all seems ok. Managed to pull plug out where it goes through car body checked for continuity from plug through harness all ok even when I move the cables about. Fault still the same. Any more ideas would be gratefull. Also does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for the central locking. Thanks |
Did you ever find a resolution to this? I'm having the exact same issue starting maybe a week or two ago. Was going to replace the lock but decided to check in on here first.

Yes I did find problem. I checked all the cables for breaks or damage but could not find anything wrong. So took door lock off the car, and removed two screws that hold a cover to reveal the internal mechanism. I had read that they get dirt inside them and micro switches get stuck. So I cleaned all the internals and replaced the grease, put it back on car and it worked first time and has been ok ever since. |
