I have an '07 A3, and it seems like i blow a brake or tail light every few months. Does anyone else have this problem? I have never had another car blow bulbs this often, and it's compounded by the fact that they are not easy to replace. Does anyone have any easy instructions to fix these myself? Thx.

That's not normal at all. I've never heard of this happening before with an Audi, let alone an A3. You must have some kind of short going on. I'd get this taken care of professionally, instead of just replacing the bulbs yourself every few months, because you don't know if it'll progress to something worse. Good luck!

Mine does the same, I replace my fogs about once a year and my tail lamps about once every two years, seems to be an overheating issue from the look of the contacts.

Maybe you change the bulb with oily hands?

Nope, I tend to handle them with a clean cloth to avoid oily hands. That and for the fogs, you can see it's the element burnt out and for the tail lamps it the contacts on the base looking scorched.

Definitely odd. 68k miles later, I have yet to replace my OEM brake bulbs in my '06.

I noticed mine we overheadting as well (melted plastic / bulb contact). Another reason why I just ordered OE LED tails!

My 2006 A3 does it every two months and its frustrating! I asked our mechanics at the dealership and they can diagnose it either. All they say is a bad connector to the bulb.

A3 Anomaly??

I have a 2009 A3, it has the LED light rather than a incandescent bulb. The inner rear lamp complete (is a sealed unit & can not be opened) was replaced under warranty. Now it's blown again, only $800 plus $100 labour to replace. Audi is such a ripoff.

This is my 1st Audi & I'm not a happy chappie. Gearbox is failing @ 40Kms (30K miles) & only $6,000 to repair & no guarantee it will fix it. The front discs are worn too low & can't be machined (@ 50Kms) so that's another $1,000.

& I just bought it.
