Delivery dates for A3 T Sport

Delivery dates for A3 T Sport
Hi all,
I ordered a grey import A3 T Sport through an offshoot of a certain UK based free internet provider back in April.
As yet they have not been able to confirm a delivery date. Every time I contact them I'm given some wooly date of 'End of September/early October'.
Am I being given the run around, or is it realistic that a production date would not be available even this late in the day?
Incidentally, I was originally given the first week in July as my first delivery date. Then told that the factory was closing for all of August and then the delay was due to unprecedented demand.
I'll probably give them a week to get themselves organised before I think about getting the car elsewhere.
Regards
Jonty

Re: Delivery dates for A3 T Sport
As messed up as it may seem, Yes it's probably a realistic date. I ordered my 01MY A3 on June 19th, found out last Friday that my car will be built during week 37, and to call and get a delivery date during week 36. So don't feel too bad. According to my dealer, the first of the 01MY A3's will begin production in week 36.

Re: Delivery dates for A3 T Sport
Yep, me too! I also ordered in June. Originally delivery date was expected 9th October, but I have altered the spec to make the most of the 2001MY options, so could be waiting a little longer.
Its not so bad, as now you will get the 2001 spec, and not a car that will be superceded almost imeadiately. Important if you are a private buyer...

Thanks....at least I am not the only one who has to endure the wait. With Audi's recent special offer prices I was having second thoughts as to the apparent benefits of going the grey import route.
Reading about everyones enjoyment of their cars only makes it worse...

What experiece does anyone have of ordering from Audi ? How long do these things take to start production , build the car etc ... Im extremley desperate to get my motor and am a bit disolutioned with the whole thing right now.

Update on delivery dates...week 40
I know I ought to take this with a pinch of salt, but I have just had a phone call from my supplier with a delivery date of week 40 (2nd October).
I'll wait and see if this becomes a reality but my supplier seems to be blaming the manufacturers for deliberate holding back of delivery date publication.
No doubt, it will all change next week..but what the hell I felt a little happier for a few days.
