Near side drive shaft broken 3 times

Near side drive shaft broken 3 times
ive got a 1.6 petrol 1998 model lowered suspension when i bought it (red springs)
i changed the alloys from 15 to 16 inch original alloys 5 spoke - and the shaft has broken on gear box side 3 times only after few miles driving - the tyres on the are 205/55 R16.
Anyone have any idea why this has happened.

did you fix this problem only mine has snapped 3 this month and i have had enough and would love to know if you fixed it as i may have the same issue
