Re: Turbo w/ QUATTRO & Oettinger

I gotta say it : why are you guys so hyped on the 2.0t ? I've driven the 2.0t and there is a bit of lag cause by the spooling turbo. I just traded in a great bi-turbo ar so a realize the aftershock when a turbo lets loose. The power and torque of the 3.2 is just a better ride. Remember that the quattro carrys about 400 lbs. and cost about $4K more (w/ similar options) and will tax the 200 hp. The 3.2 handles nearly as well as my Mini Cooper S and in many dry road conditions it out handles it !

Becareful, you are going to start the 2.0t vs. 3.2 arguments again. People on this site love their

2.0t immensely and despise the 3.2.

Nope...2.0 I like, FWD is a travesty though

Yeah the 3.2 is a bit porkier (the 2.0 is no lightweight), but I'd rather the AWD over WWD any day of the week. :)

Re: Nope...2.0 I like, FWD is a travesty though

Yeah - the 2.0T vs 3.2 is a hard one, a lot of our customers have the 3.2, not to mention the R32 Golfs (we already have the new MKV version here).

This car has software, exhaust & carbonio so we are already pushing 250+ hp & well over 300ftlb.

I have a K04 sitting on my desk that will push this car to an easy 310hp.

We do a lot of track days over here (and hill climbs) - no way can a 3.2 stay with a chipped 2.0T in a straight line.

Mind you, the throttle response & flexibility of the 3.2 is awesome, so on our tight hill climbs, the 3.2 never comes off boost & is just as fast & easier to drive. Open the road out, its a different story.

As for Quattro vs FWD, we really feel sorry for you Americans not being able to choose the drivetrain :(

Gen 2 Haldex controller works a treat!

http://www.oettinger.com</a

nice - you got the front splitter

i have yet to get mine - did you install the kit yourself or have a shop do it? plus
MORE PICS PLEASE

RedA33.2 09-11-2006 09:06 PM

did you have a hand in the ott kit install? If so tell me about the rings, which did you use, they

look twist tied on, or clipped. Oh yeah and I'm kinda partial to the 3.2 the 2.0 is knackered (sp?). I'm soon onto the Ott kit myself. This car you show is really clean and looks great. I can't wait.

Hats off to you! Must have cost a pretty penny - Aussie prices being what they are.

I'd take a 3.2 in a heartbeat if they would just give us the DIY transmission;-)

Aussie Audi Guy 09-11-2006 09:31 PM

Rings are the stock ones

We removed the factory mounting tabs, cable tied it in, and from behind, glued them on with Urethane (sikaflex). Once dried, the cable ties are removed & its permanant. You can also get it dead centre this way.

Other option is to glue in a nut & bolt combo to the back of the emblem & do it that way. I'm sure someone has made a bolt on emblem somewhere, but they are a bit hard to find over here!
