Strange noise
I've got a 1999 A3 1.8TQ which has developed a "whoosh whoosh" noise (almost like a tyre has something stuck to it) only when the tyre is loaded, ie a slight turn on the wheel; there is no noise on full lock. The noise is still there, but slightly quieter when the car turns left.
The noise seems to be coming from the front passenger side wheel and occurs over 25mph to 80+mph - I wondered if it is a wheel bearing on it's way out?
I have just replaced the original alloys (16") with 18" RS4 with new tyres and the noise is still there, ie not caused by a dodgy tyre.
I can also hear a slight rumble from the front passenger side of the car, especially over rough ground (almost like a worn ball joint noise) and am not sure if this is connected.
Has anyone had similar experiences or can anyone offer any advice?
Cheers
