Default 034 Motorsport vs APR Stage 1 Tune

I have a 2016 Audi S3 and looking at getting a Stage 1 Tune. I have done some research on both 034 Motorsport and APR. Does anyone have the 034 Motorsport Stage 1? It appears to have higher HP and Torque numbers in comparison to similar APR Stage 1.

The numbers don't mean much. would have to be same car, same dyno, same day to have any real comparison. I've used APR on a number of cars and its pretty good, though overall I prefer Unitronic these days. 034 makes good stuff, but haven't tried their tune.

Why do you prefer Unitronic over the others mentioned? I’m looking at tunes too, curious to hear your thoughts.

Danke!

Qualitatively - it seems that the largest successes are with APR - the APR Plus is getting my attention.

I figure I would chime in as I ran a Unitronic Stage 1+ ECU and Stage 1 TCU tune on my 15 S3 for ~30K of its ~40K miles. Prior to the tune I had looked at APR, Eurodyne and a couple others. Personally, I picked Unitronic because they seemed like the most complete package for my needs. They have superb customer service, competitive numbers while feeling OEM, and flash from home capability.

Just curious, why are you only considering those two tuners? Why not consider Unitronic, and some of the other tuners as well? Not trying to sway you, but I am curious if there is a specific reason that is having you look at those two tuners only.

Largest successes as in numbers? I like the idea behind APR Plus, but I wish APR offered a flash from home OBDII option.

I've run APR code 3 times. Twice had significant problems, once cost me more than $1,000 in parts replacement before APR realized they had a code flaw and never even so much as apologized. Also did a Stage 1+ with them on my B6 which had both software issues, as well as failed injectors and injector seats. Stage 1 Jetta code worked fine.

I've run Uni 3 times also, and had issues once with one issue that was corrected with a software update. I currently have stage II uni on my S3 and Stage 1+ on my R8.

The other factor is for APR you have to find a dealer, and usually pay them to install the code. with Uni, you buy the cable and you can turn it on and off and do any software updates at home which I prefer.

I've also run Revo on a Stage 3 1.8T which worked pretty well.
