Hey All (first post here).

I bought a used 2015 A3 a year ago and it's been great - it now has 53k miles on it. I should note that I recently had the water pump and thermostat replaced two weeks ago. The pump developed a small leak so nothing catastrophic.

Quick question - just how hot does the coolant become before the radiator fans turn on? Today during some epic start and go traffic the coolant temperature got to 232F. Is that normal for an A3? At what point is it a concern? At no point did the engine temperature reach above the mid-point and I think the fan came on at least once at the high end there. I've read these things run hot but how hot?

Cruising at highway speeds (75mph) the temperature will hover around 217-219F. If I hammer it a lot it'll hit 220ish.
