2015 A3 New Owner Questions
Hi!
Just got a new 2015 A3 Premium Plus with the MMI and I love it so far I do have a couple of questions.
1) iPhone 6 Video Output: Is there a way to stream any video from your iPhone to your MMI screen? For example a youtube video or a live stream from Safari? Also, can it play videos from VLC? If so, do they need to be resized? The reason I'm asking these questions is that I would need to buy a new lighting cable and I don't want to waste $90
2) What the best way to know if I have the latest software and firmware version of the MMI? And Do I always have to go to the dealer to get it updated or can i do it form an SD card?
3) Can i play videos from an SD card? If so, do they need to be a special pixel size? Tried to play and 1080P MP4 and it said that the file can't be played.
Thank you for your help

1) No I don't believe so not without heavy modifications.
2) not sure. Although nav updates can be downloaded online from Audi.
3) I also don't believe this is possible. Video in Motion is specifically disabled above a certain speed due to safety concerns. You can play DVDs when stopped or purchase an unlocking device to watch DVDs while moving. That may be the best option for what you are trying to do.

1) I would second this, the only known way to get video is by the internal storage (ie SD card) no BT video streaming of any sort has been seen working on these cars.
2)EURO VCDS codes apparently don't work to enable video while in motion.
